Abstract
Censored samples are encountered in life-cycle testing experiments; that is, when the experimenter does not observe the failure times of all units in the life-cycle test. In recent years, inference based on censored samples has received much attention, so that inference has been made about the parameters of various distributions such as normal, exponential, gamma, Rayleigh, Weibull, lognormal, inverse Gaussian, logistic, Laplace, and Pareto based on censored samples.
In this paper, a method is proposed to perform hypothesis testing and find an accurate confidence interval for the mean of the exponential distribution under progressive hybrid censoring of the first type. Then, the performance of the proposed confidence interval is evaluated using simulation. Finally, the proposed methods are implemented on a set of real data.
