Abstract
The aim of this paper is to introduce the contraction method for analyzing algorithms. According to this method, several classes of recurrence relations can be analyzed as special cases of the general framework stated. The main steps of this technique are based on the contraction properties of the algorithm with respect to suitable probability meters. Typically, the limit distribution is specified as the fixed point of a limit operator on the class of probability distributions.
