Abstract
Consider a coherent system consisting of independent or dependent components and suppose that its components are randomly selected from two different classes, and that the components of the first class are larger than the components of the second class in the sense of some random order. In this paper, the reliability of such systems is compared using different random orders and it is shown that whenever the number of randomly selected components from the first class in the sense of some random order is increased, the reliability of the resulting system will be higher. Whenever the components of the system are considered dependent, joint functions are used to describe the structure of the dependency between the component lifetimes.
