Abstract
In the study of reliability of technical systems, record models play an important role. Suppose that the lowest value of the first record is known, then we give a definition for the mean residual of subsequent records. Next, we predict the mean residual of subsequent records under the assumption that the lower bound value of the m-th record is known. In addition, we define the generalization of the mean residual of records based on a sequence of k-records and investigate its various properties. Finally, we demonstrate the correctness of some theoretical results using simulation.
