Abstract
Methods for inferring population structure and its applications in identifying diseases and predicting the physical and mental state of humans have become increasingly important. In this article, the motivation and importance of studying population structure are first examined. Then, the applications of population structure inference in biology and treatment of various diseases are described. Then, methods for inferring population structure and finding the disease model corresponding to each subpopulation are described separately for populations whose members are mixed or non-mixed. In this regard, emphasis is placed on methods for inferring population structure using the Bayesian approach, and the reasons for the superiority of Bayesian methods are stated.
